A discussion guide that goes alongside the 3 parts of the Documentary called "Eddie". You can watch the film in a small group or at a training gathering and then use the discussion guide as a way of exploring the Biblical leadership principles.
ABOUT THE FILM (A note from the film makers)
The main story line behind this film is that an ordinary man with a vision to create a sports network ended up fueling a movement that helped redefine leadership as we know it. Upsidedown leadership if you will. It’s a great story that deserved to be told.
The only problem was Eddie was reluctant to tell it. Humble and unassuming almost to a fault, Eddie was not keen on putting the spotlight on himself. However, he came to see the critical importance in passing on leadership lessons that are sorely needed in our world. So he agreed to do it. His one request was we emphasize that he made an abundance of wrong decisions, even on critical issues. Our job as filmmakers became to introduce the real Eddie, keep the spotlight off him and on the lessons he so vulnerably imparts in the film, even ones that may have been personally painful for him. So do us all a favor as you watch and discuss this film: Don’t make a hero out of Eddie. Don’t put him on a pedestal. And don’t saddle him with unwanted celebrity.
If you embrace the New Testament model of leadership that Eddie models in the film, you will undoubtedly live out your own calling to make a difference in the world. Get on that bus, find the seat with your name on it and you will never be the same again. Just please don’t make a hero out of this ordinary man. DO be inspired. DO laugh. Do cry. Do be the leader you were born to be. That’s what we want from this film and nothing else. With all this said, you are ready to move forward.
