When is the appropriate time for a leadership role to be entrusted to an individual? What level of maturity is required for this responsibility? What has to be demonstrated in the life of an individual to merit an invitation to lead?
“Give me the child for seven years and I will give you the man” is a quote attributed to the Jesuits who believed that a person’s belief, values and behavioral systems are shaped within a child’s infancy; and that a Jesuit upbringing would make the adult a confirmed Jesuit. Likewise, it is important to realize that with training and opportunities, children can receive early formation to lead – and be capable of age appropriate leadership.
