In this session we will focus on learning about the context tool. Once we have read the scripture and tried to work out what the writer is saying, we want to discern what the writer means by these words. Understanding context will help us here. Use the Context Tool to help understand “What does it mean?”
Context is the setting within which a writing is situated. Context provides meaning and clarity to the intended message. Context gives clues to a relationship between the writer and readers, giving a deeper understanding of the intent and direction of the writing.
The context tool helps us understand the meaning of the passage for the people for whom it was written. It also helps us understand the background of a passage and how it fits into all the other Scriptures. This is the key for determining true Biblical principles.
We will practice using this tool on a Bible passage.
